A nifty aircraft with notable STOL characteristics, the Storch gained some fame as Rommel’s scout aircraft, and as the getaway vehicle in Otto Skorzeny’s mission to fetch Mussolini from his mountain-top imprisonment after the Fascist capitulation in 1943. I’ll say this: this classic Airfix kit was challenging for me to put together, not least because the directions around the landing struts and the clear canopy were, shall we say, ambiguous. I wrestled with it, though, and I do like the way it looks! In one of these shots, my son has the Storch barnstorming a British column in the desert.
