R.A.F. Airfield Diorama, 1940, With Airfix 1/72 Blenheim IV and Spitfires Mk I.

Two summers ago I made my first small airfield diorama boards in order to have a setting for my recently finished Airfix Spitfires, Control Tower, Fuel Trucks and Emergency Set. I predicted at the time that a more ambitious setup would be forthcoming at some point, and I have in fact done bigger (and, I would say, better) airfield scenes since then, on newer, bigger boards. However, it was only in the last month that I completed the final of four modular 2’x4′ boards and a scratch-built hangar — and only yesterday that my five-year-old and I pulled it all together for a photo shoot. We had a great time with it!
